What We've Been Doing

2009 may have been a quieter year than we are used to, but we still had an exciting and interesting year working on a variety of different types of event.  A few that spring to mind are:

February 2009

Corporate Rally in Malaga

Giving some of our artists the chance to get away from the wet and chilly English weather, we packed a troupe of dancers, a drumming workshop

and a 7-piece dance band off to sunny Malaga.  Their brief was to energise and entertain top sales staff at their annual 2-day awards ceremony - which they certainly did.  The interactive drum workshop, as illustrated in the photo roused the crowd with superlative beats, glow sticks, clapping and chanting.  The dancers, sporting flamenco and matador costumes, threw themselves into the Spanish theme with great gusto, performing spectacular routines throughout the day, and the dance band got into the swing of things by including some lively, traditional Spanish numbers as well as current hits.  It was a great rally - as the client said 'truly one of our best to date!'

The Wedding Season

The start of the wedding season, and we were delighted to participate in many unique weddings at some glorious venues.

One slightly more unusual than most included a mix of traditional and modern entertainment in the Four Seasons Hotel in Hampshire.  With a conventional background pianist to start and then a stunning soprano during the ceremony, the emphasis switched to contemporary with a young, male string quartet, a funky jazz pop group, and finally for the evening a cool, stylish DJ with a sexy saxophonist jamming along.  An interesting mix of music which worked really well to create an occasion greatly enjoyed not just by the bride and groom and their guests, but also by the Prelude member managing the entertainment on the day.

 Birthday Party

Asked to event manage a discreet party for his wife's birthday, we took our client to several venues before he opted for the charming Hampton Court Palace Garden Room.  The intimacy of the venue captured the required mood perfectly, and a delightful, informal evening ensued with food by Digby Trout and flowers by Christine Floral Design.  Entertainment was provided by a low-key jazz duo and one of our most popular dance bands.

Awards Ceremony

A lively two-day awards ceremony in Birmingham where we provided some funky, hunky male dancers, a soul band and a Robbie Williams tribute act.  No prizes for guessing the company's staff is primarily female!

Corporate Christmas Party

Rounding off the year in style, we created a fabulous, star spangled Meet the Stars night at Madame Tussaud.  After laid back contemporary jazz during the reception, throughout the dinner the guests were treated to spectacular tribute acts Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Robbie Williams and Pink backed by a fabulous 6-piece band.  This was followed by the very real and utterly gorgeous group, the Saturdays, who strutted their stuff for an exciting 30 minute performance.  Later on the guests enjoyed mini ice cream cones served by the Ice Angels, playing the casino tables and finally dancing the night away to our regular DJ.
